Take Shape specialises in smaller group fitness classes that give you a great all round workout. Our class numbers are what many other studios would try to call group personal training. That means any limitations are catered for, and you get lots of one on one attention from the instructors. It also keeps the happy chatter happening cos you rapidly get to know the people in the group, and the laughs mean you barely notice the sweat glowing… well almost… 🙂

STRONG

STRONG by Zumba® combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio and plyometric training moves synced to original music that has been specifically designed to match every single move.  Every squat, every lunge, every burpee is driven by the music, helping you make it to that last rep, and maybe even five more.

In a one-hour class you will burn calories while toning arms, legs, abs and glutes. Plyometric or explosive moves like high knees, burpees, and jumping jacksare interchanged with isometric moves like lunges, squats, and kickboxing. STRONG by Zumba® instructors change up the music and moves frequently to make sure you’re always challenged to the max.

Stop counting the reps. Start training to the beat.

OUTDOOR BODY FIT

We love fresh air and a breeze. Bring the kids and let them play in the park or sit beside you as we take you through your paces for 45min. Get your heart rate up, find out how tyres can be fun, plus ropes, kettlebells, and not forgetting your very own body with the best of body weight resistance training. This is Strength, Power, Flexibility combined in a low impact fun fitness session everyone can do.

SPIN

What is a cycling/spin/RPM class?
It is a cardiovascular class done on stationary bikes to music.

It will increase your fitness levels, burn fat, and tone and shape your legs, hips and butt. You will gain leg strength and muscular endurance without building bulk.

The interval training style takes your heart rate up, then gives you a (short) rest, so you can do it all again. This is scientifically proven to be one of the most efficient ways to increase your fitness.

Why you should learn to love them:

  • It’s an awesome fat burner and fitness booster. Increased fitness equals more energy, faster metabolism, stronger joints and did I mention hot    legs and ass!
  • It’s low impact so safer on your joints.
  • You can’t help but work harder.
  • But every level of fitness can participate in the same class..

BOX FIT

WHAT IS IT?

Box Fit is an intermediate class that combines high intensity interval training with muscle conditioning. The class can be made suitable to for beginners who are willing to give it a go.

This class combines elements of boxing, martial arts, kickboxing and kettle bell classes. Come prepared to work hard and be pushed to another level!

CORE STRENGTH

A 60 minute class focusing on inner strength and mobilisation. With the fundamentals of Yoga and Pilates and concentrating on balance and flexibility, this class incorporates mobilisation, active stretching, postural exercises and finishes with a short meditation. So if you are looking to improve your quality of life and reduce the risk of injury book in today. Bad back?  Sore knees?  Stiff neck and shoulders?  You need to join us for this low impact class.

FAB AT 50

WHAT IS IT?

Fab at 50 is a gentle physical activity program suitable for all ages and those who haven’t exercised recently. It is a safe supportive environment to increase mobility and fitness. Exercise at your own pace in a friendly atmosphere.

Fab at 50 is open to people at all levels and is safe for people with stable long term health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes or obesity.

Fab at 50 is run by qualifed trainers specifically trained in managing programs for higher risk clients. Classes are limited in size to ensure safe individual attention and better results.

Our leaders will help you complete a pre-exercise screening form, and you may need to consult your GP before starting.

TEEN FIT

It’s never too early to start developing good habits – join us for a gym class that is fun, social, and designed just for teens The benefits of exercise on teenage mental health are numerous…

Senior School can be a minefield of body-image issues, peer pressure, stress and anxiety. Regular exercise has been shown to help combat all of these issues. Introducing your teen to good exercise habits in a social and happy environment can help to combat all of these problems.

Exercise in teens is shown to promote body-love, confidence, and general mental health. Our classes are specifically tailored to the needs of teenagers, mixing light weights and cardio together in fun and different ways whilst remaining focused on teaching correct technique.

TEEN GYM runs twice a week – please check out the timetable for class times.

SELF DEFENCE

WHAT IS IT?

It’s time to gain the skills, and be empowered to keep yourself and your family safe:

  • 5 key principles to self defence
  • Evasion techniques
  • Identifying and working with heightened state of emotion
  • Rapid movement techniques
  • Awareness strategies
  • Points of reference for supporting agencies

Our 2 hour work shop workshops will enhance your instincts, enable quick action and give you the confidence to know what to do and fast.

Our 4 week program adds additional boxing and fitness skills, and more training in the 2-hour program skills.

Both workshop and program are regularly delivered from the studio, but can also be held in the community, schools or social clubs – send us an email, if you would like further details.

COST: $59 for TS Members ($65 for non-members)
